Ski Week 2026

18 March 2026

SWV has successfully delivered its 13th Ski Rehabilitation Week, held from 9–15 March in the Alps, providing a powerful and restorative experience for Veterans.

The week brought together a diverse group of participants, including 22 new Veterans facing a wide range of physical and mental health challenges — from life-changing injuries to complex hidden conditions. In a supportive alpine environment, the programme enabled Veterans to step away from daily pressures, rebuild confidence, and refocus on their recovery journey.

Supported by a dedicated team of 18 Buddies, 8 Veteran Representatives, and a specialist Medical Team of 10 professionals — including a GP, psychologist, psychiatrist and therapists — each Veteran received tailored care both on and off the slopes. Adaptive instructors and more than 40 volunteers further strengthened the delivery of the week, ensuring a safe, inclusive and impactful experience throughout.

While skiing remains central to the experience, the lasting impact lies in the progress made by each individual. Participants returned home with renewed confidence, stronger connections, and a clear pathway into continued support through SWV — a powerful reminder that recovery does not end on the slopes, but truly begins there.

Winter Challenge and Symposium

A highlight of the week was the Winter Challenge, which once again brought teams together in a spirit of friendly competition while raising vital funds for SWV’s work. This year’s challenge was won by a team from Convex.

The Challenge also incorporated the 2026 Winter Symposium, which featured a fascinating discussion on current global political risk. Speakers included General Sir Nick Carter, former Chief of the Defence Staff and SWV Patron, Lord Gove, Editor of The Spectator, and Simon Jack, BBC Business Editor.

SWV extends its sincere thanks to all teams who took part in the Winter Challenge. Their commitment and generosity will make a meaningful difference to the Veterans supported by the charity.
