Wounded veterans invited to join SWV's ninth Ski Week to Klosters in March 2022

Applications are being invited from UK veterans with physical or mental health injuries or illnesses to take part in Supporting Wounded Veterans' annual sports recovery week in the Swiss ski resort of Klosters from 7 - 13 March 2022.

Every year, 25 veterans from the UK are selected to go to on SWV's Ski Week which is often the first step for many in regaining their confidence after injury or illness and starting the journey towards meaningful occupation.

As well as skiing with qualified, adaptive ski instructors, the sports habilitation week provides veterans with the chance to discuss their pain management needs and career interests with SWV’s staff and volunteers. This ensures every veteran can receive further support and bespoke mentoring following the experience. There is also a valuable opportunity to share experiences with other wounded veterans.

Read how the 2019 Ski Week enabled Army veteran, Natalie to engage with a mentor to help her find balance and improve her mental health.

How to apply:

  • The Ski Week is open to all former UK servicemen and women who have been medically-discharged, or are suffering pain or illness after leaving service.

  • Due to the current travel restrictions and entry requirements in Switzerland, all participants must have been double vaccinated against Covid-19.

  • You must be available to travel from 7-13 March 2022.

  • Proof of Service will be required.

If you have any questions about your eligibility before applying please email Martin Beaney (martinb@supportingwoundedveterans.com). Our Veteran Ambassador Network would also be happy to share their experience to help veterans assess whether this recovery pathway is right for them.

Deadline for application is: Monday 27 September 2021.

Only shortlisted applicants will be invited to interview.

Interviews will be a 25-minute informal panel conversation on Zoom and will take place in October/November.
